Description
This is a beautiful statue in my mother's garden that I caught in the morning light amidst the Hosta flowers, and in the very garden I used to look for Thumbelina in at dusk as a child. She looks like a Faery Bride, her face veiled in petals, with a cascade bouquet in her hands, almost as if some crafty little faeries dressed up this ordinary statue of a young woman reading a book, to fulfill their faery stories and beautify the garden. I like the way the light hit her, making her look gossamer in greens, whites and lavenders. I love to find such delicate beauty in the ordinary.

LOVELY--This ethereal photo makes me recall my childhood fantasies. I love the greens and the light on the statue as well as the cascading of vines and petals.

Thank you, Joan! It seemed like such a special photo to me, invoking so many childhood memories, fantasies and mythical imaginary journeys. When I saw her like this, it nearly took my breath away. Like Helen of Troy among the lilies- something of intangible beauty.
