Artist's Description

This is my sweet friend, Kate, who just happens to be a very wild Mule Deer. She and I have forged a friendship of trust over the past 7.5 years. I have never tried to tame or catch her and pen her up. We have a mutual respect for each other, and I never interact more with her than she is comfortable with. She has had 13 fawns on our wild canyon property over the years, and she often just hangs out with us if we are in the yard or garden. She also lets me pet her. She is the sweetest soul. As a side note, her days are now numbered: Kate is now very sick from eating corn that neighbors have fed her. Corn tears up the digestive tract of deer and destroys their immune system. Currently, Kate has a tumor on her jaw and black spot on her ears. Please, please only feed deer organic fruit like apples, carrots or things they find in their wild environment.

As the wife of a Marine Helicopter Pilot and a mother of two boys, I have lived a rich life of adventure, self discovery and spiritual introspection that is reflected in much of my artwork. Currently, I am a graduate student studying mental health counseling to become...
