Artist's Description
We inherited a large flower garden from the previous owners of our home. In the first spring, I noticed two prickly weed-like plants coming up. They weren't thistles so I watched and waited to see what they would do. To my surprise, they grew into two frilly pink Ornamental Poppies! Sadly, their frilly petals only last about a day in the stiff Amarillo wind and extreme heat, so they are easily missed or overlooked. Since that first year, we get a few of these beauties in our garden each year, yet they each only last a day. They are so beautiful and unique, that I decided I just needed to paint one! This way, we can enjoy the flower's beauty for so much longer than just a single day.
About Aimee Mouw

As the wife of a Marine Helicopter Pilot and a mother of two boys, I have lived a rich life of adventure, self discovery and spiritual introspection that is reflected in much of my artwork. Currently, I am a graduate student studying mental health counseling to become...
